Checklist for connecting to Google Business Profile

Find out here what you should take into account before connecting your listing to Google Business Profile.

In order to make sure that the end result of the connection is what you wanted, you need to consider two things:

1. Number of Locations
Before connecting to Google, we recommend checking that amount of locations is the same in our platform than in your Google Business Profile account.

If the location data does not match, check where the difference is and make any needed amendments - e.g. adding a missing location to our platform. If you have decided to use your StoreID as an identifier on our side, you can use that to easily spot missing locations.

If you have more locations on our side than you have on the Google Business Profile side, these locations will be automatically created and added to your Google Business Profile account during the connection.

2. Existing location data quality

It is important that the location information in the platform is matching the Google Business Profile location data (including pin placement). 

If these are differing the system will not recognise the location and potentially create a duplicate.

Before connecting to Google, we recommend checking which content you already have added to the locations on Google's side. This is important if you do not want to override the content in your Google listings. You can easily get a general understanding of the existing data by exporting locations to an Excel file from your Google Business Profile account.

Once you have an overview of the existing data, you can choose between the following options:

Keep your existing location data from the Google Business Profile account

In order to keep the data you have in your Google Business Profile account, you need to make sure you have added the below listed location data to your locations in our platform as well. This way you won’t overwrite existing location data with empty content.

Please notice: “Payment methods” in our platform does not send its content to Google. Payment method information must be added via “attributes” field in our platform in order to show this for mentioned directories.

Business description

Short description/ Long description

We will overwrite this field. The description length on Google side is limited to 750 characters. Therefore, either a short or a long description from our platform is taken:


- The long description is taken: in case description is shorter than 750 characters


- The short description is taken: in case of description long description is longer than 750 characters

Photos

Photos

When connecting with Google Business Profile, we only add new photos; our platform never removes existing photos from your Google listings.

If adding the same photos via our platform, those photos will be duplicates in your Google listing.

Ignore the existing location data in your Google Business Profile account

On the other hand, if you want to give your locations in your Google Business Profile account a fresh new start, you don't need to worry about the current location data available there. When connecting our platform with Google, the system will overwrite the location data, excluding photos.

When connecting with Google Business Profile, our platform only adds new photos; we never remove existing photos from your Google listings.

If adding same photos via our Platform, those photos will be duplicate in your Google listing.

Additional consideration:

You can connect even if your locations have profile suggestions on Google Business Profile side. Our platform will ignore those suggestions and the data will be pushed from our side.
