EVSE IDs and how to add them

Learn why and how you should add the EVSE IDs to your EV charging stations in the Uberall platform

    What is the EVSE ID?

The EVSE ID (Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment Identifier) is a unique identifier assigned to each EV charging point/socket. A charging station can therefore have several EVSE IDs assigned to it. It is used in charging networks to distinguish different charging stations and ensure proper billing and authentication.

    Structure of an EVSE ID:

    • It usually follows a standardized format, such as ISO 15118 or OCPP (Open Charge Point Protocol).
    • It often includes:
      • Country code (e.g., "DE" for Germany, "US" for the United States)
      • Operator ID (identifying the charging network provider)
      • Charging station number (unique to each charger within the network)

For example, an EVSE ID might look like this:
    DE*UB*12345*01
    Where:

    • DE = Germany (Country code)
    • UB = Charging network operator (Uberall)
    • 12345 = Specific charging station ID
    • 01 = number of the specific charging point/socket

If you're looking for the EVSE ID of a specific charger, it is usually displayed on the station itself or within the charge point backend (CPMS) you are using.

Why should you add the EVSE ID to ALL of your charging stations in the Uberall platform?

In order to sync your charging stations in the Uberall platform with the charging stations in EcoMovement's database, our system needs to connect each Uberall location with the matching EcoMovement listing.

Since the EVSE IDs are unique for each charging station, our system uses the EVSE ID to search in EcoMovement's database to ensure correct matching.

Connecting to EcoMovement then enables the two-way sync process:

    1. We start receiving EV data from EcoMovement. This will activate the EV-specific location tab in our platform (read more about it here).
    2. We submit cleansed and enhanced location data (address, coordinates etc.) to EcoMovement, ensuring a unified and consistent data flow to the directories.

Adding the EVSE ID to all locations is essential. During implementation, we assign EVSE IDs to all your charging stations. Afterward, please ensure that all new charging stations added to our platform include an EVSE ID.

How to add the EVSE ID

The EVSE ID needs to be added as an  admin only label

Correct Format for the EVSE ID as an admin only label

    1. Make sure to get the full EVSE ID of one of the charging points/sockets that belong to the charging station. If your charging station has several charging points/sockets, you can pick any of the EVSE IDs and add it to Uberall.
    2. The admin only label has to have this format: evse_id_*******

    For example:

You have one charging station with two charging points. The charging points have the EVSE IDs: DE*UB*31114*01 and DE*UB*31114*02.

The correct admin only label would be either be: evse_id_DE*UB*31114*01 OR evse_id_DE*UB*31114*02

    Directly in the platform

In each location profile, there is a section called “Labels”. Add the label here, and select “Admin Only” under “Manage Permissions”:

    Via Excel Import

You can add the admin only label through the Excel Import. Use the column called “adminOnlyLabels”:
