    Overview

The Located In feature lets you tell Google that your location is physically co-located inside another establishment — for example, a pharmacy inside a supermarket, a Starbucks inside a Safeway, or EV chargers inside a gas station. By declaring this relationship on the platform, the information is automatically submitted to your Google Business Profile, eliminating the need for manual updates in GBP and ensuring your listing accurately reflects your real-world location.

    Where to find it

Located In is available in the Address section of the Location Profile, inside Location Hub.

    To access it:

    1. Go to Location Hub → Locations
    2. Open the location you want to edit
    3. Scroll to the Address section

Note: The field only appears when editing an existing location. It is not available during the "Add Location" flow — this is intentional, as the normalization process needs to complete before the relationship can be established.

How to Set the "Located In" Relationship

Step 1 — Open the Location Profile

Navigate to Location Hub → Locations, find the location you want to update, and click on the Edit Profile button.

Step 2 — Go to the Address Section

Click on the Address section. On the right side of the screen, scroll down after the Interactive Map: you will see the Located In field below the location's coordinates.

Step 3 — Search for the Parent Venue

Click on the Located In field and start typing the name or address of the venue your location is inside. Results will appear based on places near your location's address.

    Tip

If the venue you're looking for doesn't appear right away, try typing its full name. The search requires a close match, so partial or short queries may not return the result you need.

Step 4 — Select the Relationship Type

Once you select the parent venue, you will be prompted to choose the type of relationship:

    • Department Of: Same physical space, same brand or organization, but different operating details (e.g., different hours or phone number). Example: a Costco Pharmacy inside a Costco Wholesale.
    • Independent Establishment In: Co-located in the same physical space, but different companies. Example: a Starbucks inside a Safeway, or a shop inside a mall.

    Step 5 — Publish Updates

Click Publish updates then Publish now. The relationship will be stored and submitted to Google via Listings integration.

How to Edit or Remove the Relationship

To edit the relationship, click on the Located In field and update the venue or relationship type, then click Publish updates.

To remove the relationship, turn the Located In toggle off, then click Publish updates.

    Attention!

If you change the location's address, the "Located In" information will be automatically cleared. You will need to re-set it after saving the new address.

    Tips

    • The search is radius-based (default: 500m around your location's address). If the parent venue is not appearing, double-check that your location's address is correct first.
    • The relationship type matters — use Department Of only when both locations share the same brand/organization. When in doubt, Independent Establishment In is the more common choice.
    • Changes to the "Located In" field go through the same approval workflow as other location edits, if your account has approvals enabled.
    • Google can take up to 72 hours to reflect the updated relationship on your Business Profile.
