Comparison between a Main (Brand) Page-Location Page structure and Individual Pages

Last updated on November 27th, 2023

Facebook requires you to decide how you want to set up your presence on its website. To better understand the effect of the page structure on certain actions you can or cannot do, let's first have a look at the comparison between a Main (Brand) Page -  Location Pages structure and an Individual Business Page:

Main (Brand) Page -
Location Pages
Individual Business Pages
Impressum
The impressum is mandatory for Facebook in the DACH region only.

Hide Address
You cannot hide the address of your locations. The main page itself does not have an address.
You can hide the actual location's address on its business page.
FB Store Locator All location pages can be found via a store locator on the main page. The business pages stand alone.

Page Names
All of your location pages must have the exact same name as the main name. However, you can display additional, more particular information in ( ) after the page name by using the location descriptor in Facebook.
Facebook may reject a desired name change of pages.
Your business pages can have individual names. Facebook may reject desired names.

Connecting your FB page to our platform
The Facebook connection is done once, on business level for all locations in our platform. For locations without a Facebook page, we will automatically create a FB page during the FB connect flow.
For each location the Facebook connection is done manually in our platform. For locations without a Facebook page, the system can create a page and be connected in our platform.

Existing Pages
Existing Facebook pages can be manually added as a location page to your FB structure if you have the Admin rights of that page.

Unofficial Pages
You can try to claim existing 'unofficial pages' with Facebook. Only if Facebook decides to hand over the page and the Admin rights to you as well as accepts the name change, these pages may be added manually to your official FB structure.

Duplicate Pages
Duplicate location pages cannot be merged.
You can request 2 business pages to be merged, if you are an Admin of both Business Pages and both have similar names, represent the same thing and have the same address (for physical locations). Facebook is the one that decides on the merge.
Merging Pages
Likes of your location pages are not summarised on the main (/brand) page. The location page keeps their followers, likes, reviews, when you add it as a location page to your main structure.
Merging two pages has effects on likes, photos, posts, followers: users who like your pages and any check-ins will be combined; but posts, photos, reviews, ratings and the usernames will be deleted from the page you merge.

Posting on all pages (via FB)
A post on your main (/brand) is done via Facebook and can be automatically displayed on all location pages (FB settings).
A post done via Facebook on a Business page is not automatically added to other Business pages.
Posting via our platform
Via our platform you can choose to post:
- On all your location pages at once;
- On a specific location's page only.
