Best Practices for Maintaining Accurate Information on Directories
Table of Contents
Local Pages
For a lot of directories, your website (especially local pages) will be the source of truth.
- Therefore, it’s best to update your listing’s information AFTER they have been updated on your website.
Following the recommendations below can still result in some inaccuracies as directories ultimately decide what information they choose to publish. However these are best practices to help you maintain accuracy across the board.
Apple
- Connect your Apple Business Connect account to Uberall to improve the reliability and accuracy of your information.
- By doing so, Uberall will become one of the main sources of truth for Apple.
- In some cases, Google decides to publish different address, opening hour, or website data on the Google Maps listing itself if they have reason to assume that they have more up to date data. This means that the data that is visible on Google Maps and/or Google Search deviates from the data in your Google Business Profile (which is the data we have submitted from our platform).
- We summarized ‘Google Automated Updates & best ways to manage’ them here.

Bing
- Bing allows you to have several instances of a listing in different accounts.
- We have one instance in our Bing Places account while you can have one with different info in your own Bing Places account.
- Similar to Google, Bing will aggregate data from user-suggested edits, third-party sources on the web (your website, online directories, etc.) and updates made to your listings.
- We update your Bing listings from our account.
