Amazon Alexa

General overview of Alexa Voice directory

Last updated on January 31st, 2022

Amazon Alexa is a voice directory

Amazon Alexa, also known simply as Alexa, is a virtual assistant technology largely based on a Polish speech synthesiser named Ivona, bought by Amazon in 2013. It was first used in the Amazon Echo smart speaker and the Echo Dot, Echo Studio and Amazon Tap speakers developed by Amazon Lab126.

As Alexa is a voice-only directory, there will be no online listing URL for the user to see their listing published. Users should expect updates to be processed within 24 hours and new creations to take up to several days as Alexa conducts manual verification checks internally. These checks may include checking the business website, calling the business, using google street view amongst other things.

How Uberall connects

Uberall submits business listings data to Alexa once per day via a file upload. You can see all supported fields and countries in the ABE page here and further technical details on the ticket here.
