After you connect Apple Business Connect, you may notice that the number of locations in your Apple Business Connect account doesn't match the number of locations connected in the platform. This article explains the most common reasons and what you can check yourself. If the numbers still don't match after these checks, contact our Support team.
Common reasons the location count doesn't match
| Reason | What to check | Go to |
|---|---|---|
| You have locations in more than one country or brand | Apple needs a separate business for each brand in each country. | Check 1 |
| Location names don't follow Apple's guidelines | Location names and the business name in Apple. | Check 2 |
| The category doesn't match | The category of your business in Apple and your locations' categories. | Check 3 |
| Some locations haven't been cleansed yet | The cleansing status of your locations in the platform. | Check 4 |
| Your business was rejected by Apple | The status of your business in Apple Business Connect. | Check 5 |
Check 1: Do you have one Apple business per brand and country?
Apple requires a separate business in Apple Business Connect for each of your brands in each country.
For example, if your platform account has locations in 5 countries, you need 5 businesses in Apple Business Connect. If you only created one, locations in the other countries can't be published, and you will see a warning.
What to do: create the missing businesses in Apple Business Connect, then connect them as explained in the Apple Business Connect guide.
Check 2: Do your location names follow the guidelines?
Apple is strict about location names. Names that don't follow the rules can be rejected, and the locations won't be published.
The location names should also match the name of the business you created in Apple Business Connect.
What to do: review your location names against the Apple Business Connect location name guidelines and correct any that don't follow them.
Check 3: Does the category match?
The category of your business in Apple Business Connect should be the same as the category of your locations in the platform.
What to do: if the categories don't match, don't change your locations' categories in the platform yourself. The category is also used for other directories, such as Google, and changing it can cause problems there. Contact our Support team instead, and we'll help you find the best solution.
Check 4: Are all your locations cleansed?
Before a location can be published to Apple Maps, the platform checks and cleans up its address data. This is called cleansing. Locations that haven't been cleansed yet are not sent to Apple.
What to do: check your locations in the platform for an "Unsuccessful cleansing" message. If you see one, review and correct the address information. For more details, see the Cleansing FAQs.
Check 5: Was your business rejected by Apple?
If Apple rejects your business, none of its locations can be published.
What to do: Apple contacts the business owner directly to resolve a rejection. We can't help with this step, because Apple only communicates with the owner. Check your email and your Apple Business Connect account for messages from Apple.
