Fixing missing Facebook and Instagram permissions
When you connect Facebook or Instagram, we ask for a specific set of permissions. These permissions let us keep your listings accurate, publish posts, manage reviews, and pull in analytics — depending on which products you use.
If any permissions are missing or if there are new permissions needed after you connected, some of these features might not work properly. To help you catch this early, we now flag incomplete connections directly in the platform, tell you what's affected, and let you fix it in a couple of clicks — no need to disconnect and reconnect.
This article explains where you'll see these alerts and how to resolve them.
Why permissions matter
During setup, Facebook and Instagram ask you to:
- Grant access to all pages
- Allow all requested permissions
If you skip a page or decline a permission, we can't fully manage that connection. Depending on your products, this can affect things like:
- Keeping your business listings up to date
- Publishing or scheduling social posts
- Replying to or managing reviews and comments
- Viewing performance analytics
You don't need to remember which permission does what — we tell you what's missing and what it affects.
Where you'll see an alert
Depending on how you manage your connections, you'll see this in one of two places:
1. On the Business Connections page (account level)
If you manage Facebook and Instagram connections for your whole account, you'll see a warning banner at the top of the Listing Connections page whenever one or more accounts have an incomplete connection.

Click Review Accounts on the banner, next to Facebook or Instagram, to see which accounts need attention.
2. On an individual listing (location level)
If you manage a single location, you'll see the same warning on that location's Listings page, in the Listings Require Action table.

Click Complete Connection next to Facebook or Instagram to fix it.
In both places, the alert disappears automatically once the missing permissions are granted.
How to fix an incomplete connection
Clicking Review Accounts and Complete Connection to open the same guided flow.

Follow these steps:
- Confirm you have your login credentials ready, then click Continue to Complete.
- You'll be taken through Facebook's own permission screen. Complete the process in one go — stopping part of the way through can leave the connection in the same incomplete state.
Ensure in the process you grant access to all pages & permissions.
Once you've completed the flow, we automatically refresh your permission status. The warning banner and "Require Action" status will clear on their own — no further action needed.
Frequently asked questions
Why do you need access to all my pages, not just one? We can only manage the pages we have access to. If a page is missing, updates, posts, or reviews for that page won't sync — even if the rest of your account is fully connected.
What happens if I don't fix this? The features affected by the missing permission won't work correctly for the pages involved. For example, review replies might not work, or listing updates might not publish.
Do I need to disconnect and reconnect my account? No. The Complete Connection flow adds the missing permissions to your existing connection — you don't need to remove and re-add your account.
Where can I check exactly which permission is missing? Click Manage Accounts (account level) or Complete Connection (location level) to see the specific permission status for that connection.
