Overview Where to Find It How It Works Step 1 — A sync check detects a discrepancy Step 2 — Uberall validates and generates the suggestion Step 3 — The suggestion appears in the platform Step 4 — Accept or reject each suggestion Understanding Suggestion Statuses Tips Frequently Asked Questions

Catch and resolve discrepancies between your location data and what directories like Google are reporting — field by field.

    Overview

Suggestions are data-quality prompts that appear when a directory reports a value for a location field that differs from — or adds to — what's stored on the location profile. Rather than syncing changes automatically, Uberall surfaces them so you can decide: accept the directory's version onto your profile, or reject it and keep what you have.

Suggestions appear on the Suggestions widget on the location overview page and on the Data Review page, where you review and act on each field individually.

    Where to Find It

There are two ways to get to your suggestions:

From the Location Profile: Open any location and look for the Suggestions widget on the overview page. It shows a live count of pending suggestions. Click Review (if there are pending suggestions) or View (if there are none) to open the Data Review page.

From the Locations List: In the locations table, look for the Suggestions column. A green circle icon indicates a location has pending suggestions. Click the icon to go directly to the Data Review page for that location. A dash means there are no pending suggestions.

    How It Works

    Step 1 — A sync check detects a discrepancy

When Uberall runs a sync check for a listing, it compares the directory's live data against what's stored on the location profile. If a mismatch is found — or if Google or Apple Maps reports that a field was updated — Uberall evaluates whether to create a suggestion.

Note: Not every discrepancy creates a suggestion. The directory must be on Uberall's supported list, and the specific field must be one of the supported suggestion fields (see list below).

Step 2 — Uberall validates and generates the suggestion

If the check qualifies, a suggestion job runs to validate and normalise the candidate value for each affected field. For photo suggestions, this includes fetching the image URL to confirm it's a valid, readable image — broken or unreachable photo URLs are silently dropped and never surface as a suggestion.

Supported fields: Attributes, Long Description, Short Description, Email, Fax, Imprint, More Hours, Opening Hours, Opening Hours Notes, Phone, Photos, Special Opening Hours, Website, Services.

Step 3 — The suggestion appears in the platform

Once created, the suggestion shows as pending on the Suggestions widget and in the Locations List. Open the Data Review page to see suggestions grouped by field. You can also filter by directory.

Step 4 — Accept or reject each suggestion

    • Accept: The suggested value is written onto the location profile first, then the suggestion is marked as Accepted. These happen as two separate steps — if a value looks partially applied, it's worth checking whether both completed.
    • Reject: The location profile is left untouched. The suggestion is marked as Declined.
    • Bulk reject: You can reject suggestions across multiple locations at once. This uses a batched process and may take a moment for very large sets of locations.

    Understanding Suggestion Statuses

    Status What it means
Pending Awaiting your decision. Shown in the widget count, Data Review page, and as a green icon in the Locations List.
Accepted You accepted the suggestion; the value has been written onto the location profile.
Declined You rejected the suggestion. The profile was left unchanged.
Hidden System-suppressed — most often because the field already has a value and the source directory isn't one that always shows regardless. A hidden suggestion isn't permanently closed — it can resurface if circumstances change.

Note: Accepted and Declined are permanent. If a directory later reports a new value for the same field, a brand-new suggestion row is created — the original resolved record is never overwritten or revived.

    Tips

💡 Google and Apple Maps behave differently. These two directories can generate suggestions even for fields that already look correct — this is expected, not a data error. All other directories only suggest when there's an actual mismatch.
💡 A rejected suggestion isn't permanent. If the directory reports a genuinely new value on a future sync, a new suggestion will appear. Only an exact repeat of the same underlying entry is filtered out.
💡 Opening hours, attributes, and special hours are recalculated live. These field types are compared against your current profile data when you open the Data Review page — not frozen at the moment the suggestion was created. A suggestion for one of these fields may quietly become irrelevant if you've updated the profile since.
💡 Missing Services suggestions aren't always a bug. If a location has the Content Collections feature enabled, Services suggestions are intentionally suppressed for that location. Check this before escalating.
💡 Accept and Reject are not symmetric. Accepting makes two changes (profile value + suggestion status). If something looks half-applied, that two-step process is the first thing to investigate.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    Question Answer
Why did a suggestion I already resolved come back? It didn't come back — a new value reported by the directory creates a brand-new suggestion row. The original accepted or declined record is never reused or overwritten.
Why is there a Google or Apple Maps suggestion for a field that's already correct? Google and Apple Maps are the only directories that can suggest a value even when the field already matches. This is expected behaviour — every other directory is suppressed in that case.
I rejected a photo suggestion — why did a similar one reappear? Only an exact repeat of the same underlying directory photo is filtered. If the directory resubmits what looks like the same image under a different internal ID, it will appear as a new suggestion.
I don't see any Services suggestions for this location. Is that a bug? Check whether the location has the Content Collections plan feature enabled. If it does, Services suggestions are intentionally suppressed for that location.
What exactly happens when I click Accept? Two things happen in sequence: the suggested value is written onto the location profile, and then the suggestion is marked as Accepted. If the result looks partially applied, check whether both steps completed.
Can I undo a rejection? Not directly — there's no "un-reject" action. The field would need to come back as a new suggestion on a future sync, or be edited manually on the location profile.
What does "Hidden" mean — why doesn't the suggestion just disappear? Hidden means Uberall generated the suggestion but suppressed it from view — most often because the field already has a value and the source directory isn't one that always shows regardless. Unlike Accepted or Declined, a Hidden suggestion isn't permanently closed and can resurface if circumstances change.
What does the green icon in the Locations List mean? It means that location has at least one pending suggestion. Click the icon to go directly to the Data Review page for that location.
Does every directory generate suggestions? No. The directory must be on Uberall's supported list. Tier-3 directories and internally excluded directories are skipped automatically.
Is there a permission level required to view or review suggestions? Access follows the location's normal permissions — there's no separate plan gate for suggestions in general. The one exception is Services suggestions, which are suppressed for locations with the Content Collections feature enabled.
