Disabling Google Assistant on Business Profiles

Last updated on January 24th, 2023

Introduction

Google enables the Google Assistant on your Google Business profile. The Google Assistant serves two purposes for your business profile:

  • Booking an Appointment or Checking Restaurant wait times.
    • Customers who find your business using Google Search, Maps or Assistant can ask Google Assistant to call you on their behalf, for tasks like booking an appointment or checking the wait time for a table at a restaurant. Assistant will confirm any necessary details with the customer and call your business to fulfill the customer's request.
  • Confirming Business Information
    • Google may also occasionally call businesses to confirm details, like opening hours, and ensure accurate information.

For more details see Google's Article: "About phone calls from Google Assistant"

For businesses that do not want to use this feature on they profile, they can choose to opt-out of Google Assistant for each of the business profiles that they manage.

How-to Opt-Out of Google Assistant

  1. Login to https://google.com/local/manage
  2. Search and click the location
  3. Click the 3 dots at the upper right corner
  4. Click “Business Profile Settings”
  5. Click “Advanced Settings”
  6. Under Google Assistant you may disable bookings and calls
  7. After updating, it will automatically save settings
