How to close locations temporarily directly in Google Business Profile (GBP)

Last updated on June 1st, 2022

In the wake of the Corona crisis, Google has introduced a 'temporarily closed' status for locations.

How to use the feature via the platform:

Mark a location as closed for 14 or more consecutive days using the special opening hours. Google will then automatically show the location as 'temporarily closed'. Currently, there is no other way of activating this feature in the platform.

How to use the feature directly in Google Business Profile (GBP):

To set one or more of your locations to temporarily closed, please log in to https://business.google.com.

  1. Go to the location you want to update.
  2. Then select the "Info" tab on the left side.
  3. Scroll down a little in the main window until you see the section title "Close this business at Google".
  4. Below this, there are multiple options. Please select "Mark as temporarily closed" here.
