A correctly formatted address for your location is crucial to ensure correct processing and synchronisation with all connected directories. This article explains how you can find a valid address, format it correctly and enter it in the Uberall platform.
What happens when you add or change an address?
Whenever you add an address to your location (when creating a new location or when updating an existing one), once you click "Save", our system uses your address input and searches for it in Google's Map database to check if this address exists and to retrieve the correct geocoordinates.
This process is called Normalisation. It ensures that once we start submitting the address, it will be accepted by the different directories.
How to find and add a correct address
Step 1: Understand the different Address Components
When opening a Location Profile, you will see these address fields:
Correct Formatting:
Address Line 1: Should only contain street name + house number (if available).
Address Line 2: This is a freeform text field - add any other relevant information about the address, like buildings, landmarks, intersections, floors etc.
ZIP/Postcode: Enter the postcode - if you are unsure about the ZIP code, you can check for country-specific websites that list ZIP codes for your location.
City/Suburb: Add your city (in some instances, you might need to add your suburb/neighbourhood/district instead).

Step 2: Add your address to the Location Profile and Click "Save".
Our system uses the fields country, address line 1, ZIP/postcode and city and searches in Google's database. Our system will give immediate feedback:
✅ Valid address: If the address could be found, we retrieve the according geo coordinates from Google and automatically place the pin of your location on our map. Our system will save and apply the new address.
❌ Invalid address: If the address couldn't be found, you will immediately get an error message:
Step 3: What to do if our system cannot find a valid address
If you get an error and the address couldn't be saved, validate your address input and correct it if needed (you can do this several times).
Every time you click "Save", our system will try to validate it again - this is a great tool for you to use in order to make sure you enter a valid address.
If you can't find a valid address, you can use the following tips:
Validate Address Line 1/street and street number
Use the Map in your Location Profile
Move your pin to the correct location in the map - here you should already see the name of the street which you can then use for "Address Line 1":
Validate ZIP/Postcode
1. Search for your postcode on Google Maps and check if your location is within the shown area and if Address Line 1 and the city matches your ZIP code.
2. Use country-specific websites that list your country's ZIP codes.
